VOX and the ship jumpers

So, i may be a follower but i've been thinking of jumping ship for a little while now...  after 2000 days it was time to move to a bigger better CMS that has integrated all that web2.0 has to offer...

After a few days of use I think i'm going to stick with VOX, check it out and then start your own... it's a lot more integrated together than xanga.

ryeli.vox.com

i'll probably be updating ryeli.com to reflect the new "the blog" soon... update your bookmarks accordingly.  I wanted to break away from only updating with work news and posting more personal and family happenings as well... vox has provided a clear break to make that happen along with a very clean easy to use layout.

One of the issues with xanga, at least for me, is unclear navigation... I'll see laura use things that I had no idea were there... umm... I'm "web savvy" why didn't i see that stuff?  vox has it all layed out in a way that works and makes sense all in AJAX so it updates constantly too... super tagging abilities, photo and video management and much more.  it just, makes, sense.

  1. visit ryeli.vox.com
  2. read
  3. start your own vox
  4. add me to your neighborhood
see you there!

Houston!

We arrived in Houston last night after a three hour flight... Eva was very much done with being in one place.  We let her run around the airport barefoot for a bit before loading in the van to the hotel.  We left DC, it was rainy and 70 degrees, at 10pm in Houston it was clear and 85... right now at 12pm the "real feel" is 97... i thought i was done with summer!

I'll post a couple wedding images before we leave Houston of Jimmy and Arianne's wedding!  For now you can see their engagement images a couple posts back!

oh.. but the best thing?  SONIC... I LOVE SONIC!

Six Year Old Linux Users

Updates on the homeward front:

/Elias is sick (throwing up) again for the third day this week... what's up with that?  He'll be sick for an hour maybe two and then he says he feels fine.  Very strange.

//We've been fully mac for quite some time now, since I went out on my own I've been 100% mac.  Eli just asked me if we could buy a "windows machine" sometime so that he can run linux again.  He "really liked all the games on knoppix."

First, how does eli remember that linux only runs on intel processors or in his terms "windows machines"... Secondly, he hasn't used linux for well over a year and he still remembers the distro of linux he enjoyed was knoppix.  How funny.

///If you notice, I shedded the ~ryeli skin from this journal... I hope to start updating more often, sometimes business, sometimes just personal.  I missed xanga in the way I used to use it at my old name.  I've also been facinated with YouTube as of late... perhaps I'll start posting more videos.

////Survival... I stumbled on to Les Stroud's forum while searching out whether there would be a Survivorman season two (which there will be, eventually)... I didn't realize this guy knew his stuff as well as he does.  He's revered as one of the top survival experts out there.  If woods, hiking, camping, fire interest you... I strongly suggest checking out these places:

Les Stroud's Survival Forum
- I've learned so much from this forum, but most interesting is other's survival stories
Wildwood Survival - this is Alan "Bow" Beauchamp's site... he's THE survival expert
Tom Brown's Tracker School - learn all the basics in one week: shelter, food, fire, water, trapping and so much more

/////That's about it... I've been busy working on Faith Community Church's new site... It's by far the most in depth build I've done to date, more on that once it's complete!

Candice & Kaloug

I'm excited to post these publicly.   Candice and Kaloug we married a little more than a week ago and are a perfect fit.  I have enjoyed knowing Candice for years and immediately enjoyed Kaloug and look forward to getting to know Him better.  If they just weren't so busy! :o)  Below are a couple samples of not only their images but new borders and actions we have implemented into our bag of tricks!

For more images and tricks from the bag, you can view Candice and Kaloug's wedding album by clicking here.  I love this album and can't wait to have a copy for myself!

Arianne & Jimmy e-session!

Arianne and Jimmy didn't have to go far to find their wedding photographer.  Jimmy works about fifty feet west of where we live and lives two floors up.  Arianne lives about fifty feet north.  Aside from not using any gas to see eachother, Arianne is a great photojournalist and just graduated from Corcoran college of art + design here in DC.  It's always an honor and a compliment to shoot another photographer's wedding!

Above is our session in downtown Annapolis a few days ago.  The wedding is fast approaching in a few weeks in Texas, our halfway point between here and Costa Rica!

If you would like to view the rest of Arianne & Jimmy's engagement session, you can view the gallery here.
